Re: Weather = rain
The Iris's I lost were in a long bed. Most were fine once the ground dried but I didn't realise that there is a low part that held the water for longer. We live and learn.

Re: Weather = rain
It is still raining here to and we are wearing jumpers.
We are well and truly flooded in so as we have to go shopping David has got the tractor to get us up to the road. He could only get a really huge one. I am not sure how I am going to get up into it.

Re: Weather = rain
Warren, you probably have soil up there with better holding capacity than we do? (You'd need it with the lower rainfall...) Ours is a granitic sand over some "spewy" clay. Add manure, organic matter and mulch though and it's pretty good. If you don't mind the acidity.

Re: Weather = rain
The soil where I have the roses out of town Wendy, is what they call Cobram Loam, when damp its very easy to dig and things grow well in it , but if let dry out the surface gets as hard as cement

The new car, No plate so it could not go to town, otherwise it would have.
Our stream behind our levee bank and still rising.

We have no worries about watering the roses from Warren in this paddock as can see, we have abundant water

As for Carole in the tractor she had to sit on the wheel well

Re: Weather = rain
Where I grew up are having bad floods, banks of the snowy river. Makes we wonder why after SO many floods and years of the same thing happening why caravan parks are not on higher ground ? The cost must outweigh the damage and insurance bills ?

Re: Weather = rain
I reason is probably, they think flooding may happen every now and then and the risk may be worth it, plus its more visually appealing for travellers to camp right beside a waterway.

Re: Weather = rain
Different for tourists, but a lot of ppl rely on caravan parks for a permanent home, I feel for the residents on Wangaratta

Re: Weather = rain
We have water everywhere. (Upper Murray)
Roads torn up, bridges gone, fences gone, ground is so soaked it won't absorb any more.
Sun has come out and I reckon you will be able to see the grass grow by the minute.
The garden (and weeds) will love iit.
Cheers

Re: Weather = rain
You have had a bad time, your way.
I am sure our grass has grown at least 8 inches in the last few days.
As for the garden, the only plants I can see are tall ones as the weeds are now taller than the others

Re: Weather = rain
...yes sure have , hate the bins going out each fortnight not full or not at all as you pay for the green waste on an extra levy now on your annual Council Rates (EPA Levy)
