Thanks Neptune, all I know is our local gardening program is always mentioning Curl Grubs as long as I can remember and the two grubs I referred to are the same as identified by Graham Ross. I get a lot of these but have never had a bare patch in the lawn (Mown Weeds) like others in Sydney with Army Worm problems. For that reason have never classified them as Army worm grubs. They are always called Curl Grubs here so will have to mention this to Graham Ross if I can ever find him again.

it seems curl grubs are a back drop for a few different types of beetles....black beetle, African lawn beetle, scarab beetle, etc....only way to find out is to get a few bugs and let them go thru their changes...
