Roses in my spring garden

If the grower's stock has been labelled wrong it can carry on for a couple of years.... Hence my 4 'Constance Spry' (incl. replacements) that were meant to be 'Queen of Denmark' and the 2 'Wedding Day' (incl. replacement) that were supposed to be a Noisette and the 2 'Mme Hardy' (incl. replacement) that were supposed to 'Tuscany Superb'.
 
Not just one supplier either. It's best to tell them though - otherwise the problem carries on year to year.

Autumn that's a depressing thought. So many replacements and so many wrong! And you're still growing roses? A testament to your optimism and persistence. Yes I will let the grower know, never fear.

Hey Betsy, clever thinking. Outback Hero might be it! We'll see in a couple of days when its open.

A the mention of the word hero in the name of a rose brings to mind  a rose I acquired a few years back and had it in a pot marking time the rose being the rose My Hero. This year I took it out of it's holding pot and placed in an intermediate pot and wow did I get a surprise at the flowers that developed. The African Queen can't wait for the rose to develop so she get it's blooms onto the show bench.

There is controversy about this rose as it is listed as hybrid tea in Roses 12 however the breeder Tom Carruth believes the rose is a floribunda and when I spent time with him in South Australia earlier in the year  from memory he was adamant it is floribunda and he would look into it as he felt it had been registered as such. In the nursery catalogues it is listed as a floribunda.

Oof, is that orange baby ever a cuckoo in the nest! LOLOLOL. Nice rose, though. Any idea of its real name???

Also, I confess, I've never seen white tipping on FC. How is the scent on that one, silky? It should be WOW, but if it isn't, I would be suspicious. Then again, Electric Tangerine Flori Baby may have made me slightly paranoid.

Dioressence - just a drop-dead gorgeous thing. Maybe it's also the gardener's touch in this case, because others find her a bit tricky. Not you, obviously. Brilliant.

Betsy, that white tipping on FC is due more to my camera. Perfume has a wow factor of warp speed 6! Haha just made that up, but its powerful. And what a bloomer! Talking of perfume, I was outside reading the paper and become aware of this delicious fragrance. Tracked it down to Blue Moon, which was a good 15m away! It's having its best year yet, didn't realise it was such a wafter.That fragrance is evident most days when it is warm and still, I've found. I won't dare denigrate its flowers ever again. Dioressence...now you know why I love her. But thanks for the compliment!
Orange baby cuckoo - perfect description. It makes my eyes water whenever I look at it. I don't mind bright but Holy Moly, short, stumpy and just plain garish. Possibly goes by the name of Playboy. Ha, wouldn't get a lady looking like that! Lol

Thank you Sue. As I mentioned, I think the orange alien is called Playboy, closest thing according to pictures from grower's photos on their website.

This is a good game.

My 2 centimes' worth: I dunno about Playboy. The Orange Midwich Cuckoo seems to have more petals than I thought old Playboy has.

Betsy I just checked it on HMF and you're right. Playboy doesn't look to have as many petals as my cuckoo usurper, but it's the closest on their rose list.

Orange Honey? Alphabetical order might explain it being labelled Parole.

Well the flowers look mini but the bush itself is strong and sturdy, looks like a flori. Haven't heard back from the growers yet, will ask them then.
