Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Oh Gary, Your garden is so beautiful, I am so envious of the space, the arches the seats, just love lots of seats (to read, to water, to contemplate), and the Roses, how beautiful they are at the moment. You deserve all the accolades that my friends from HR in Aust heap on you... Keep it up, I am sure you will come up with some wonderful additions for next year....

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Well this isn't anything like Gary's garden but We love it. Graham has taken these photos today with his phone so they aren't professional but one day I will take some better ones.
I would be pleased if someone could tell me the name of my Pink Rose which I am pretty sure is a Rugosa as it is very thorny, the flowers are very full when first opened & this is the one on the lattice that the naughty possum keeps pruned, the perfume is beautiful almost musk like.

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Dianne I am quite envious that you have so many roses blooming. They look beautiful. Your garden is indeed an Eden, Sorry can't help with your unknown rose. I'm sure someone will be able to help with ID. Out of curiosity, is that a blue salvia in front of the Heritage on the fence? I have several around the place and find them very useful plants. Its strange that nectar feeding birds love some and won't touch others.

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Silky, I am surprised that there are so many Roses flowering at the moment myself.
Yes that is a blue Salvia in front but more on the Purple side really, I don't have the name anymore but the bees absolutely love it. I have a very tall one with electric blue flowers that the birds love.
So pleased you like our little Eden, really it is all I can handle, though I have just written up my Wish List for next years roses and was surprised I am finding room for them.
Keep Planting Roses...

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
The Salvia looks like Indigo Spires. It's too big for Majestic Spires which very similar but smaller and a bit darker than Indigo Spires.Dimity Cottage wrote:Silky, I am surprised that there are so many Roses flowering at the moment myself.

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Thanks Gary, I think you could be right the Salvia is approx. 70cms - 1m tall, if I grow it in a little shade it is around 50 - 70cms. I keep it in check widthways with a homemade Perennial round support, works well at keeping it more upright so the Roses can get plenty of air as well.Balinbear wrote:The Salvia looks like Indigo Spires. Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Just Beautiful Dianne and the garden is aptly named! I just love your Graham Thomas rose. I have seen them for sale but never seen one growing in someone's garden. Wow, will just have to force open my purse again!! BTW, I didn't notice the black spot or spent buds until you mentioned them! Too busy admiring the roses!! Anyway, if we're honest, all our roses get BS and have spent buds on too!! LOL

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Sue, Glad you like the garden, I have that Graham Thomas growing on an Obelisk which is 2mts tall. He makes a wonderful short climber, and really there are only a couple of leaves with black spot but Graham had to take the photos where they were, usually this David Austin is very clean, no problems at all really.

Re: FEW MORE ROSES IN SPRING
Lovely Roses Danny, I especially like Medal & Mother's Love, they are beautiful. Keep posting pics we love to see what other people are growing.
Sue, yes I do have Charles Austin growing but only today I cut all his spent flowers off after a magnificent show. He has no signs of blackspot or other nasties and has been a good performer. Like all David Austin's, he took a year to settle in but then Ooomph!!!!!away they go here. Good luck with yours, I am sure he will perform well for you..

Thanks Danny. Have seen it in catalogues and thought it looked rather lovely, but decided to wait and see if someone has grown it and how things went. Have you had it a while?

Looking good Danny. Yes, Kardinal's lasting powers are fantastic, both on the bush and in a vase. Beautiful form.
