Is this separate to the sub-forum called "Rose Hunters" ?
Or have I missed something.... Eyes For You - Page 4 2908439648

Yes in a way Wendy, I guess you could call it rose research, whether it be old ropse we might not have. But I think it is the one's that might be new to us, maybe new releases or ones that we might want to find out about prior to purchasing. We all put in where we look for our roses, which forum, which book, Mr Google or any other way to help felow members with thier intending purchases, does that make sense scratch Stunned Loopy

I suppose the stickied "Wishlist" topic is useful but maybe it needs a "Desperately Seeking X" topic/sub-forum under Rose Hunters...

Looking good Wendy, something in between that and chasing roses.
It's lucky or they are lucky we have not got a Susan on here as the tittle might be "Desperatley Seeking Susan" roflmao

"Desperately Seeking... Rosie" might be more appropriate? rabbit

Or is a "Rose Profile" sub-forum a better option?
"A place where specific rose varieties are discussed"

This might cover pros/cons as well as "where do I get it from" ? scratch

Although we have a lot of "individual rose" threads scattered all over the forum. Maybe it would be good to centralise it?

ETA: especially after we just sent THIS thread way OT... LOL

Oh that's interesting Smile Most of my roses (including this one) are in full sun, all day. Since I cut it back it has been thriving though! I don't know why it loses leaves though scratch

I really considered getting Falstaff this last winter, just loved the colour of deep crimson. How does the actual colour of yours compare to that advertised? Mind you if it's "sticky" and droopy drawers, then just as well I didn't get it.

Mine is much lighter than it is supposed to be. The photo I put up is the exact colour. I see that it's supposed to be that deep purple but sadly for me it's not Sad Still a very pretty colour though and the scent is gorgeous. You may have more luck with a darker colour where you are Smile

I can see what you mean RosyTeesh, how old is it ? You know what i reckon , David Austin should keep his roses in England !!! LOL !!!! , most of em just not suited to our climate . I planted four Mary Rose standards , after i researched and actually saw them in NSW rose garden , but in our climate , they were dreadful , shed all their leaves and got mildew too , flowers were nice , not much perfume though . Pulled them all out and put in Camellias instead . Ahh well , live and learn ......

We don't have a huge garden like some people on here Smile. We have about 6 small gardens and 2 large ones. The large rose garden near our pool is about 20m by maybe 4m? Then it bends around and there's another 10m x 3m. The front garden is about 15m x 3m and there's 4 roses in there. Then near the front door there's a garden that's maybe 5m x 1m and there's a couple in there too. Then I have about 10 in pots. I put them wherever I can haha.

I definitely get it from both Grandmothers. One helped me set up all my gardens when we moved in, and the other gave us about 20 plants !!

Same here Rosy , i wonder if the love of roses is a addiction , a disease or a inherited rose gene LOL !! I got my gardening love from my mum , from a very early age we would all the , five of us , troop around nurseries with her, we would buy plants for her birthday , without knowing what they were , different story in my family , my three sons and husband show a distinct disinterest in my gardening passion , but thats okay i don't like cricket ( AFL , YEH ) or X BOX games lol ....

Lol , Rosy , better gardening than smoking , drinking and all the other vices i say , besides gardening is " SOUL FOOD " , says me to my husband all the time , only have a small block though , so its very frustrating , keep pulling things out so i can put in new plants .... Good for the soul but not so good for the pocket lol .......
