Re: Lorraine Lee
My LL Clg is one of the first to bloom. At the moment it is covered in blooms and when the evening is still the fragrance is just over powering.
Alister Clark bred some wonderful roses. Ones that come to mind are Argosy, Lady Mann and Cicely Lascelles.

Re: Lorraine Lee
I know it is heresy to say it but I can't warm to this rose. It's neither single nor double nor good red herring...so to speak. The petal count always looks inadequate to me...but maybe that's because I am growing it in the wrong climate. I believe it makes up for the petals in sheer mass of bloom in other places but mine is a dud in that respect too.

Re: Lorraine Lee
Not at the moment Bruce... I have to try and find spots for all the climbers I've got in pots first Thanks for the offer.
Re: Lorraine Lee
Meryl, I rather like the bloom shape, bit of a change from singles and high centred. The fragrance is unique as I haven't experienced that in any other rose. The canes are lined with these blooms which and mine seems to have bloomed for the past month.
Mine is in full sun on a post and rail fence and is doing so well.
Sorry yours is not doing well, can propagate one for you.

Re: Lorraine Lee
Mine is huge and covers about 3 metres of fence and nearly that high now, I did not like her at first but she does grow on you, will get as full view shot

Re: Lorraine Lee
Your pix are beautiful, Rose Petal. I see you are in Victoria. My unsatisfactory shrub is in the Blue Mountains of NSW. I can't fit one in in Sydney, Bruce, but thank you very much for the offer.

Re: Lorraine Lee
The main 'Lorraine Lee' cross I'm STILL waiting to germinate is 'Lorraine Lee' x 'Mutabilis'.... Am hoping this solves the mildew problem and makes for a nicer, more compact shrub.
Re: Lorraine Lee
Yeh, I have noticed mildew on LL bush but the Climber seems healthier for some reason. Both are in full sun all day.

Re: Lorraine Lee
Because the climber sported from the bush chances are it won't pass on anything different to what the bush could... most these sported mutations are non-inheritable.

Re: Lorraine Lee
I repeat, the climber does not suffer mildew but the bush does, both are in full sun. Even the climber canes close to the ground are not showing any mildew. Genetically they should be the same but there is a difference apart from the climbing trait.
