I have both bush and climber. The climber has just finished blooming and must mention it has stood up to our humid climate with very little Black-spot

It's a really beautiful and worthwhile rose to grow.

First impressions have been quite good for LL down here. It's been in for a few weeks now and has even got a bud on it already (it's the bush form). It was covered in mildew when I saw it at Longford... no black spot but a nice even dusitng of white so the jury is still out. It has started very vigorously so far and is clean so far (and at this stage it looks identical to gigantea... no hiding its pedigree there). It's a lovely photo Cheryl... your photography is getting really good

Bruce when you say yours has finished blooming do you mean for the whole year. We havn't got LL but our roses are no where near to budding yet. So I presume you are in a better aria for roses than we are

LL is a tea too don't forget... they have a longer, almost perpetual, flowering period in a warm climate such as in Sydney.

So Bruce if yours has finished flowering I just dont understand it. You should have repeat flowering untill near the end of Autumn.

Here that they havn't even started flowering, but I think we are in a colder climate at this time of year than you.

What's the repeat like on your climbing LL? Climbers, generally put a lot of their energy into... climbing... so their repeat generally isn't as good as the bush forms... wondering how LL goes with her vigorous gigantea blood pushing her along all year round in this regard... I'm thinking it would pretty much be evergreen and you'd get flushes pretty much all through the year right? Bruce's must have flushed and just finished... until the next flush

I look forward to getting it next year. I did grow it from a cutting once and its first flower was very cheering to me. But I lost the four own roots I had of it during a dry period.

Lorraine Lee Clg. Planted 2 years ago. New canes 2 to 3 metres long, very clean, no sign of fungus.
Yes, it's evergreen, flushes well between seasons, autumn and late winter.
Does not bloom continuos throughout like most Tea roses.


Lorraine Lee Bush. 2 Budded last September , they look like real flower machines as they are only a babies and now covered in buds.
Noticed a little mildew for 2 weeks but that went quickly and hasn't returned.
Leaves similar to the climber but slightly paler in colour. Could be the potting mix compared to the Glenorie soil.

I still think there is a difference between the bush and climber even though the climber is supposed to have come from the bush.

Carole, our climate is very good for growth but fungus is a real problem, specially in November, December, January, February and March.
Roses like Lorraine Lee Clg are very good as they tend to bloom here in the cooler months.

The climber has a massive flush here in Aug-Sept then only spots for the rest of the year. She got chainsawed to the ground after threatening to pull the corner of the verandah down! I remember both bush and climber having lots more flushes when we lived in Melbourne. Lovely photo, lovely rose.
