Re: Treloar Roses
Ausrose, your comment re small roses (Young) growing exceptionally well is in line with my experiences. I prefer them 1 to 2 years old as they grow so fast. Seems they transplant better.
The old 4 to5 year old larger plants just sit in the ground and usually don't grow well.

Ausrose wrote:Our Golden Son is an Aussie (ABR) bred by the late Trevor Grant which is a very attractive rose particularly in the bud form. I have grown it for a number of years and believe it is a good rose to show in the full bloom class. Two other roses bred by Trevor are Let's Celebrate and Governor Macquarie. Governor Macquarie which has perfume has great potential as an exhibition bloom.

Reminder to self: Do not rave on about roses in public before you snaffle up your own quota.
Got mine this week.I was after it for a while as I could not find it at any nurserys.Love this rose and perfume to delight.I think Rankins roses may have it to.

Re: Treloar Roses
Rankins and Magic Gardens want considerably more for Parole than Treloars, and also a higher shipping price. If I were looking for a hard-to-find rose, i'd bite the bullet, but Parole has been around for a while. Never mind - a friend is giving me an extra one I gave her last year, which leaves me with four. Not the six I had planned, but not so bad.
Instead of two more Paroles from Treloars, I'll go retro with something classic but new to me. Like Granada, for example. Always was curious about that fragrant slow poke Or Big Purple.

Re: Treloar Roses
Yeah, Daniel, I think Granada would be amusing, at least for a season or two. I'd just like to sample its scent, look at its funky-sunset colourings for a bit. It seems to be a PM magnet, so I'm not going to wax rhapsodic about it, but I'm just after cut flowers.
Then again, its offspring is Double Delight, a rose that I bought long ago for the same reasons. I came to loathe DD within a single flush (if you can call four roses a flush). Hope that G isn't similar trash.
