A few from my garden today
Hello Everyone,
Just thought I'd share a few from my garden today. They are all starting to get a little bit tall so I am looking forward to pruning them.

Gary, Yellows have always been my favorite, I love them. However David never did, he said the colour meant jealousy. He now loves them as much as me. Gosh he is easily led eh.

Re: A few from my garden today
Hi Silkyfizz,
Tuscan Sun is a pretty quick repeater and fades to pink as it ages. It's colour is fantastic in spring and autumn like most roses. It is really healthy and can throw out several basal breaks at once. It's only started to get blackspot in the last month. This pretty much coincided with the beginning of our dewy nights and foggy mornings.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Louise.

Re: A few from my garden today
I really like Jude The Obscure, but I've heard so many mixed reports about him. He seems to be a total nightmare for a lot of people, and do fabulously for others.
I haven't ordered him because I'm worried he'll just become a total mess when I don't spray him. How does he do for you?

Re: A few from my garden today
Oh thankyou David! Gee. You have friends everywhere!
Do you think it would be helpful? Are certain roses just sort of average, or is it just one of those things that you have to try for yourself in your own garden?
It looks like half of the roses I've ordered a pretty susceptible to disease.. Mostly the Bourbons really. Too late now. But I will have a go and see how they cope with no spray.

Re: A few from my garden today
Hi Zoe,
I have two plants of Jude the Obscure and they are both about 6 ft. They were last season's roses so have been in the ground for less than 12 months. They have had 4 or 5 flushes since planted. I always liked this plant so I just gave him a go. But that's probably true for most of them in my garden. I haven't had much trouble with blackspot and I only spray eco-rose when new shoots appear.
On another note I will have to move both of my City of Newcastle because Jude is on one side and the Children's Rose is on the other. Both are very friendly roses and like to be neighbourly.☺
Cheers,
Louise.

Re: A few from my garden today
Haha, thanks Louise. I just ordered roses I like too, picking out whatever I liked the look of, and it didn't really occur to me to worry about if they would end up looking terrible or not. But I've ordered lots of different varieties, so if some do better than others I will soon find out.
Glad to hear you're having (a bit too much) success with Jude

Re: A few from my garden today
Thanks Zoe, time always tells and sometimes reputations mean very little. It didn't mean much today when I picked up a few new ones in Big W. And before I get asked they are Grandmas Rose, Falling in Love, Baronne E de Rothschild and Heaven Scent. I must like pink roses😉.
Cheers,
Louise.

Re: A few from my garden today
I have a yellow rose named Candlelight that is well worth a place in my garden. Of the nostalgic shape it is a healthy rose. Today I received the 2014 Ross Roses catalogue and it contained a number of yellow roses including Amber Queen, Golden Ophelia, Friesia, Moonsprite, Gold Bunny, Zonta Rose, St Peter, Sun King, Victoria Gold (Welsh),Mabella, Gold Medal, Gina Lollobrigida, Souvenir de Mme H Boullett and Loreto Gold.

Re: A few from my garden today
Interesting roses there Louise, two of them(Falling in Love, Heaven Scent) by one breeder, Tom Carruth, now retired. I think they should cut well. One I can't find any info on is 'Grandmas Rose', I have heard of it. There is also one named 'Grandpa's Rose', I think it is a red

Re: A few from my garden today
Hi Ausrose, thanks for that list of yellows. I don't have many true yellows. Honey Bouquet, I suppose you could call it a yellow but it can go more towards the golden hues rather than yellow. The only one that I have in the garden that is yellow is Graham Thomas.
Thanks Roseman. I'm Really looking forward to seeing these new ones. The picture on Grandmas Rose shows ruffled petals which hopefully will provide a bit of variety on flower types in the garden. I've heard of Grandpas Rose and I think you are right about it being red. Probably will get it at some time just so I can have a matching set.

Thanks Louise for that info on Tuscan Sun. Sounds like a good rose and looks fabulous, pity it only has slight scent.
