Storing seed

Since all the best plans end up astray sometimes...

Storing of seeds - I have a bunch of hips that were collected a few months ago and they've dried up (were in a cool, dry place).
It's too late to try germinating now? So should I remove the seeds for storage or leave them as-is?

Wendy , Ideally rose seed should be stratified and kept moist straight after harvesting. If still in the hip, soak in water overnight so its easy to get the seed out and then place in a airtight container similar to what film used to come in, with a very moist, but not dripping cottonwool ball. Leave in the fridge not freezer for a minimum period of 6 wks.

Seeds germinated this late in the season - I'd have to coddle any resulting seedlings in the autumn/winter?

Am I better off storing the seed until next winter?
