The colours of my garden

Ahh what I wouldn't give to have blue wrens in my garden. Sigh... Hope they come back Betsy.
Still I have a pair of king parrots visit my aviary and eastern rosellas. A galah checked out the garden the other day. So I consider myself lucky.

We don't have many King Parrots except as passing trade - they fly in, eat the seeds of one tree, fly out. The galahs come from time to time, but they are so impossibly pushy you just want to call the bouncers.

I do have a pair of cocktaoos that hang around for most of the year, even when the big flocks come and go. I used to feed them sunflower seed exclusively.(they'd waddle in the kitchen looking for a hand out) Thought I was being Lady Bountiful.

Then I read that the high-fat diet was very bad for their livers. Basically I was making cockatoo foie gras. No wonder they never left. They couldn't get their distended livers off the ground.

How wonderful to have your very own resident cockatoos. No wonder they waddled with their poor little livers though. Sorry, just had to laugh... Next time I'm guzzling pate, I hope I don't think of your cockies. Lol
They must like you though to stick around. What do you feed them now? They look in good nick.

Wendy it's OK to boast about wrens in your garden. Luckily we can't see each other otherwise you'd see me turn green with envy. If I had wrens here I'd be boring you all to tears.

We still have our two resident rainbow lorikeets however we don't need to feed them as there is more than enough around for them at the moment.
