I would be guessing but I think your height is obtained due to them chasing the sun, the one's on the fence. Hot Cocoa, which direction is is the sun on it. They are looking healthy Paul. Well done.

They are looking good Paul. Yes maybe they are reaching for the sun but the ones nearby don't have that reaching growth so maybe not. Whatever, the mixture in your pots must be a ripper, judging by the growth and health. Good to see whole plant pics of roses in pots.

These are two plants of Joyce Abounding(Chapman) I grew from cuttings just prior to them receiving a summer prune to get them ready for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Thank you Maree for your good wishes. The AQ and I always feel we win by just taking part in the three shows as they are great days out. The days are demanding as we begin putting our roses on the bench at 4a.m. and generally leave after the night fireworks.

Wow Ausrose. Grown from cuttings and full of health and vigour. Lovely colour in those flowers. I wish you luck at the Royal Easter show. It sure takes dedication to start at 4am!

John the Sydney Royal Easter Show is a 24/7 event and exhibitors can gain access to the Southee Pavilion in which the various categories of flowers are shown from 10 p.m. the night before their scheduled show. Exhibitors can drive right up to the pavilion however the cars must be removed to parking areas adjacent to the show ground by 8 a.m.prior to the commencement of the show  the next day.

Yes the Joyce Aboundings (Chapman) are ones I grew from cuttings I have eight in all like the ones in the photo.Other roses that I have for exhibiting that have been grown from cuttings include a magnificent specimen of Irresistible that is 5ft tall and 3ft across and from that rose.  I have six cuttings  that are now well established and are about 3ft by 2ft bushes. I also have four cuttings of Red Gem (Chapman)which are ready to be repotted into permanent homes of bigger pots.  Another  bush that grew I from a cutting  is  of the hybrid tea Tineke and this bush gave the AQ and I a champion exhibition bloom ribbon some years back. My first lot of bushes from cuttings were of the floribunda Imp (Dawson) that are still growing like weeds ten years on. My only disaster with cuttings occurred about three years ago when I struck 9 Pope John Paul 11 cuttings out of ten I planted and lost all but one when I repotted them when they were 18 months old. The failure was due to human error i.e. I forgot to water them during a hot spell. Now I have a watering system that has a timer so this doesn't happen anymore.
