Re: Lots of Roses
Dan, your roses are stunning. Just lovely, and all so different. I must say I'm very taken by Glastonbury. Is the colour true? What can you tell me about this one?
It's hard to wait through drab and cold winter months but it's all worth it when spring arrives and our roses emerge. Love spring blooms!

Hi silky,
well Glastonbury is a David Austin rose as you would know , the colour is dark red fading to purple , initially when I first got it didn't have much growth but after few years it managed to triple in size , and so far haven't noticed any diseases .. the fragrance is nice and strong ,, as for repeat it occasionally repeats , overall if you like Austin roses , add it to your collection.

Re: Lots of Roses
So many lovely ones there Dan. Looking pristine and happy. Pat Austin always looks glowing, love it. How do you find it? Also your thoughts on Soeur Emmanuelle please. I bought it earlier this year, planted winter but it hasn't put on a lot of growth yet. Maybe its a slow grower? I love its unusual fragrance.

Re: Lots of Roses
Dan your roses are superb. They are all looking so scrumptious, can just about smell them. Strawberry Hill and Lady of Shallot especially nice. Is Hansa a rugosa? My Abraham Darby is a bit lighter than yours, more creamy pink, is yours in a bit of shade? I just love him, second year in the ground and so many huge blooms, I'm very happy. Eagerly awaiting my first flower from Firefighter, can't wait.

Re: Lots of Roses
Barrone E de Rothschild is a magnificent rose and along with Duet would be the most successful decorative class rose on the show bench in NSW. There are two sports of it that are available these being Louisa Jane and Frances Louise. These are also magnificent roses and do well on the show bench in the decorative class. Firefighter is a successful show rose with good form and colour with added bonus of magnificent fragrance. I must congratulate you on the photographs they are very professional.

Hi silky,
yes hansa is a rugosa , big roses but are very healthy and the perfume is nice..
Abraham darby is in part shade silky I find the colour better in part shade it gives you more of the peachy pink effect

Re: Lots of Roses
hi sure , firefighter is a nice red rose , to be honest initially its slow grower but now its growing quite a bit , the perfume is nice also .. It does do better in part shade well at least for me .. last year I had it in full sun when we had few days with 40 deg . the blooms got quite burned

Re: Lots of Roses
Some of my roses are in pots and these get overhead watering twice a day and the amount of sunburn on these roses is minimal if at all. Before someone asks about fungal disease on these roses it is no worse or better than other beds that get watered by a drip system. What I have noticed the overhead watered roses rarely get spider mite.
