SPIDER MITES AND WHITE FLY

does anyone know what is a good product to use to kill spider mites and white flys on roses????? heard eco-oil suppose to be good???

I use wettable sulphur with spreadmax for spider mites if it's just a mite problem, it's good fo Powdrey Mildew as well.

As for white flies for me I would use Malathon, if you are having a problem with both pests at the same time, just go with Malathon with spreadmax.

Thanks Neptune, I got the Spreadmax from Masters Hardware, I did look in Bunnings at the time, the team member told me that they didn't sell it. However, while in Bunnings Mindarie/Clarkson 2 weeks ago upon they little sellout table near the umbrella section, there were about 7-8 bottles of Spreadmax, what tha. going for from memory about $4 a bottle, where I paid $10. Obviously they were getting rid of them because they can't sell them. The probably don't have the knowledge about this product to recommend it.

I have used some pretty heavy insecticides in the past on red spider mite such as Vertimec with success. Recently I was listening to Graham Ross (Better Homes and Gardens fame) on 2GB and he recommended Natrasoap which is said to be environmentally friendly so I decided to give it a go. I'll be interested to see how it performs.

Funny you mention Vertimec Doug, many tears ago we used the Mectin family drenches for cattle and sheep in the glasshouses for mites, it is/was registered for use in NZ.

Some years back a salesman at Elders Windsor told me about a drench that was very similar to Vertimec and a lot cheaper.
