Spider Mites
I have got Spider Mites. What options do I have other than the water hose on them.

Re: Spider Mites
Just a word of warning about using any oils in tropical hot sun, it could burn the leaves.
I have never tried it, but I think it does likely work as the person who said it seems to try everything for spider mite control. He uses Flea Tick shamoo for dogs, dilutes at I have no idea what raitio (I guess so it looks like soapy water) and then sprays it on his roses. Ask about this on Rose exchange and he may chime in.
Again any spray on the leaves in tropical sun can burn the leaves. Make sure you spray under the leaves as this is where they live.
Spray the areas around the roses too.
Roseman can you spray sulfer on growing roses? I have never used it but always thought of it as a dormant spray. I remember someone saying they sprayed their roses with sulfer in late autumn to make them drop all their leaves all at once before the snow came.

Re: Spider Mites
I could be wrong, but I do not think so. I do believe what your talking about or referring to Deb, is lime sulphur. As you said also sprayed on the ground, again to stop spores sitting in the ground below the plant Yes this is used in winter, some say it works, some not. The other method I have come across is triflorine as a leaf defoliant at a high rate. The sulphur I was referring to is elemental sulphur. As some have seen on RE I prune some Iceberg standards. I had a call from the owner and to my surprise 90% of them had mites. I had him spray three applications and they have gone.

Re: Spider Mites
Thee, you probably have Azalea lace beetles on your Azaleas. Confidor is the thing for them.
May I ask, roseman, what is RE? I have seen it referred to a few times.
