Ozeboy's Wishlist
I will do up a 'Lavender Pinnocchio' for you as the season goes through... great list by the way! I wouldn't mind 'Aprikola' myself.
Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
I noticed Ladybird Roses was selling 'Etoile de Hollande' too if that's any help.
Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
I could send Chateau de Clos Vougeot cuttings next year - they are notoriously bad for cuttings though (I have had some strike though). If you can bud them they'll be fine.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Thanks Simon and AutumnDamask, will accept your offers with thanks and contact Ladybird.
I have been reluctant to list these in the past thinking there wouldn't be anyone out there with what I call the "Golden Oldies".
New growth wood is more desireable as I will be budding them.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
David,
I have Kings Ransom and a magnificent Konigin Von Danemark, which you are welcome to,just let me know best time for receiving cuttings etc. You're welcome to visit to get them.
My mother,40 years ago always said Spek's yellow was her most disease ridden plant ever.
I am catching up with barbara Horn, this weekend, who along with Marjory Parkes were her best friends, they still live in maitland. Both long time rosarians.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Bruce, as far as I know, 'Floradora' didn't make it here. On another note, I am trying to source a 'Charlotte Armstrong' myself. If I am successful I'll get a little extra to send your way

Hi,
I have Dr AH Verhage but it's already pruned for this year. How much do you need?

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Barbara B, as mentioned will want a cutting suitable for budding.
All that old wood you pruned is not suitable for budding. I presume you have a few canes cut off just above an outward facing bud. These buds will start to grow probably 12 to 14 inches and have a bloom at the top. When the bloom is open check the buds along the cane to see if they are just slightly swollen which is ideal. Cut off the cane, remove the bloom and cut the leaf stems off about 10mm from the cane to remove the leaves.
The cane can be cut in half for posting taking care not to cut through a bud.
Wrap in wet newspaper then cling wrap to seal in moisture.
Very simple, very little is needed when budding. Sometimes I don't even cut a cane off but just slice off a couple of buds.
Recently a lady wanted the last rose variety I had so I sliced off two buds and dropped them in a jar of water. Six hours later I grafted them onto two rootstocks and now have two new plants shooting.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Hi,
all cuttings gratefully received, especially the old roses and Tea roses. I haven't tried budding yet - a bit beyond my expertise, I'm afraid.
Gary the ones you sent me are still looking good.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Barbara B will have a good look around this season for cuttings.
More temperate months are best. I have mostly Aussie HT's Tea's,
Noisettes and Chinas. A lot are still young and need more growth to take cuttings.
Have a look on Help Me Find Roses.com then nurseries, then type in Glenorie Roses to see mostly what I have.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
as at 9/9/11 I have the following plants:-
Red Planet.
Kings Ransom.
Hadley.
Kordes Perfecta
Montezuma.
Super Star.
That Montezuma has to be a very good breeder, its parents are Fandango and Floradora, both on my wish list. It has a lot of very good descendents.

Tish are you talking about this rose, Chateau de Clos Vougeot , if so, it is at Mistydowns. Did you know it has 10,458 decendants

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Mistydowns may not have a lot of the bush rose for a year or so as they had lost their source over the drought IIRC. I sent them budwood last February.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Bruce, 'Lavender Pinocchio' has taken off and is about to flower. Are you right for me to send you a budstick in the next few weeks?

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
Hello all, would be very happy to get any on my wish list you all responded to.
Would prefer budwood as it's more reliable. For those that do not know the best cuttings to take the following may be helpful.
Budwood cuttings are those that are growing canes with a bloom on top. this bloom needs to be fully open or just starting to loose petals. All that is required is one or two 6 inch sticks with buds that are just starting to swell but have not shot. Cut off the bloom and each leaf 10 to 20mm from the cane. Wrap in damp newspaper or kitchen paper towl and wrap this with cling wrap to keep the moisture in.
Simon I would be very happy to get ' Lavender Pinocchio ' and any other Lavender breeders you may have budwood of. I'm not into stripes.
Did try for 'Midnight Blue' but no luck, still trying to persuade them.

Re: Ozeboy's Wishlist
I have collected the following since last posting.
Alec's Red, Baccara, Ballet, Black Beauty, Buccaneer, Color Wonder, Dallas, Diamond Jubilee, Great News, Loving Memory, News, Lynn Anderson, New Year, Olympiad, Perfecta, Pharoan, Pink Masterpiece, Red Devil, Silver Jubilee, Lavender Pinocchio, and Chateau de Clos Vougeot.
Most of these are listed as Very Disease Resistant on HMF and should make hips for breeding.
