I have a couple of small spaces that need some roses. Am kicking myself I didn't get my rabbit-mauled Cafe shifted - it's now taking off... Drat. Was going to shift it to the front of the bed more and then put a taller one behind.
So now I am wondering if I would be better to just leave it in situ and fill up the gaps between it, Just Joey and a weeping Crepescule.

Can anyone recommend an orange blend/ apricot type coloured miniature or small bush (pref. no higher than about 75cm)? I think I have room for 2.

Also, on the other side of the Crepescule I have the "red bed" so a small red bush/mini would fill a gap nicely.

Our plants of Sunlit < Alister Clarke> and Tamora are both low growers and very nice.

Thoughts later, it is not to late to move 'CAFE'. How about a mini called 'Black Jade'

Orange(ish): 'Softee' - grows very well, soft orange/cream... fades to whitish, profuse, and low. Super healthy. Plant it and forget it (almost). Strikes easily. Can spread them all over the garden if wanted. I can send cuttings if you'd like to get some going.

'Black Jade' is a very poor grower (if anyone wants to give mine a home just PM me your address and send me some $$$ for postage and it's yours). What about a low growing Aussie rose like 'Claret Cup' (see: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I have lots and lots of minis and I wouldn't recommend any of the red ones really except 'Galaxy'. It has done very well here. There is also the Flower Carpet 'Scarlet' option. A smallish China like 'Lady Brisbane' (aka 'Cramoisi Supérieur') might look amazing though could get too big. A poly like 'Miss Edith Cavell' could look good too.

As Dave said, it's not too late to move 'Cafe'.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Okay - I'll give shifting the Cafe a go. (I bought Summer Song to put in the bed after Cafe was shifted.... then I absent-mindedly planted it somewhere else! Shock oops)

I really like the look of Lady Brisbane - but yeah, it may get too big. I don't want anything really wide. Claret Cup looks a nice rose but next door to The Squire it may not "work" visually... dunno. Miss Edith Cavell looks interesting...

Softee looks very cute and could fit the bill really well. I'd love to have some cuttings if possible. Thank you very much for the offer, Simon. I don't know if I have anything I can send you in return. scratch

Hi,
I'd like to hear how Summer Song goes for you - we ordered it this year but didn't get it. Maybe next season.
