Climber for a Pot - Suggestions??

I have two verenda poles that I would like to train 2 climbers up, but will need to be in a pot of sorts. The position will receive about 5 hours of morning sun (shade in late afternoon), and to climb 3m poles. Colour preference is pinks or lilacs/purples. I dare say a few miniture climbers may be suitable, but am hoping the likely candidates to select from is a little more diverse....

I will be doing a fair bit of research on this, but would very much appreciate any suggestions as to possible candidates, or even a few tips, especially if someone here is already doing it.......

Roseman - the two poles are in a paved area. The closest soil is 6m in any direction from the poles. I will be putting potted plants in strategic spots of various Kinds (I do like formality) in the area, and am hoping I can find a suitable climber to take the poles without wasting my time and starting again in a couple of years.

Wphvet, thanks for the suggestion. I've seen Renae around as both a climber and a large weeper in my travels. Always looks very eye catching, and is a good look for what I would like to acheive, but being as large a climber as it is, would it last in a pot (even a very large pot) do you think?? Would look quite nice for me if it does.....

Renae will grow in anything,as would climbing pinkie.Swanes nursery have the latter growing vigorously out of pots,although I find it a less subtle rose than Renae.Personal preference.We also line the pot with old carpet to keep heat down if the pot is in direct sunshine,and I guess the bigger the better pot.cheers

There are miniature climbers too, as you say. I have 'Red Cascade' here that would work. 'Nozomi' looks great but has poor rebloom. 'Laura Ashley' is nice as well. tHEe, those 'Renee' cuttings you sent have taken and are growing away The benefit of growing 'Renee' is that it's thornless too, as is 'Pinkie'.

Hmmmm, a couple of names there I wasn't familiar with. Just checked them out on HMF. I like the flower on 'Laura ashley' is a nice Mauve with a ligher center, but it says the climbing height is only 60cm???......Renae gets another thumbs up. I will be heading up to Rustons on the weekend for a nice day out, and familiarise myself with a few more varieties. I'll keep an eye out for renae, currently at the top of my list.....

Thanks all for your feed back. Was very helpful. I went down to the nursery on the week-end and have ordered 1x"Renae" and 1x'Pinkie" for next winter.......

'Renae' has unusual leaves too.. glossy and elongated for me so far in a mid-to-light green. Very nice really. 'Laura Ashley' is classed as a miniature climber but most agree that it is beter as a ground cover, which is how I grow minie. Mine is in its second year in the ground and already has basals longer than 60cm spreading out over the ground. It seems compeletely immune to disease here with tiny leaves like that its father, 'Nozomi'. I have 'Nozomi' as well and it too has disease-proof foliage here but is taking a really long time to settle in, now here 3 years and only just begining to make a move. Gets big. My 'Pinkie' cuttings failed on me, so it's on my next season list too.

Looks beautiful. I love Weepers. I've been very reluctant to bye one in the past due to the strong wind speed I can get on my property (its high up on a hill). You get lots of nice days, but you can get some pretty bad ones. As things are growing, I have some natural wind breaks forming, so I have a couple of areas I am going to give a go. Currently have 2 on order for next year, but am looking out for 2 more.....heavily staked thought. There is a handy DIY design for a weeper I read here on RT some time ago, that I am eager to make up and give a go.......

Yes I know what you mean I have lost a few through strong winds and the stem snapping in half
