Tea Roses.

Go down

Tea Roses. Empty Tea Roses.

Post by Ozeboy 4th March 2012, 15:31

Yesterday I had the pleasure of calling on one of our members who has Carlsrhue Maria Bruhn growing in a 24" pot. The plant had blooms and suitable buds for propagation by budding. Many of our forum members have shown great interest in this plant which is supposed to be the true Mademoiselle de Sombreuil as bred by Monsieur Robert of Biarritz France in 1850. He was so moved by efforts made by this young woman to save her father from the guillotine he called his new rose after her. Would suggest looking her up on the Web, what terrible times they were during the revolution.
These roses are very similar and can understand the confusion.
Mademoiselle Sombreuil as sold in Australia has an exquisite old rose fragrance and slight pale pink centre.
Carlsrhue Maria Bruhn has a mixed frabgance that appears more Tea, also the red splashes on the underside of the guard petals.
Neither show an all over very pale pink hue as pictured in rose books.
All other aspects appear identical.

Studies may have been done here and escaped my notice but would really like to hear more regarding these two roses.
