Nept if you go digging around the bases of the rose to much, you may find rootstock erupting out of the soil as the roots are severed. I do what Dave does, much heavily, and let the worms do all the heavy work, nature can do marvels sometimes.

Fortuniana doesn't tend to grow from root cuttings the same as the good Doctor does , though.
