Duchesse de Brabant
last year I stratified the seeds in the refrigerator for approx 4-8 weeks, then planted them out,but they failed to germinate. Today I have planted seeds without stratifying, will wait and see how they go.They were open pollinated. Anyone else had success with seeds from the good Duchesse?

Re: Duchesse de Brabant
I know it has been used for breeding but I tried earlier this year and did not have any success. Had lots of seeds but really did not try too hard after the mice destroyed a whole lot of baby plants I did have.
It usually grows easily from cuttings.

Mine are both out in full bloom and looking beautiful I might add. Judging by your avatar pic Balin...I am guessing it is one of your favourites too.

Re: Duchesse de Brabant
I have seeds of it crossed with 'Scabrosa' and Rosa bracteata now that I am trying to germinate. All my Tea seeds seem to be taking an unusually long time. I'm alternating them between the fridge and room temperature at the moment to see if I can kick start them. No movement yet. They seem to take forever to ripen too.
Re: Duchesse de Brabant
They sound like very interesting crosses Simon. I had Scabrosa some years back and so loved it's fragrance.
I will post on here if or when germination takes place.
