Winter Roses
Hi All,
Just a few before they have a little rest. Sorry I can't get the photo in the right way.

Re: Winter Roses
Oh so lovely! Mine are bare twigs, apart from the valiant Mrs BR Cant, who has one bud which is too rain-soaked to open.

Re: Winter Roses
Lovely combination there Louise. Child's Love, PJPII and Jardins de Bagatelle are 3 I would love to have in my garden. Alas no more room.
Talking of winter roses, my young Abraham Darby has not stopped blooming through the winter. I'm amazed that it continues to pump out its glorious blooms through our particularly bitter winter, frosts, hail, rain, wind. I have delayed pruning but I have to bite the bullet now and ignore all the buds.

Re: Winter Roses
You're right about Abe silky. He has been trying to bust out one or two blooms for me over winter. Which is lucky, because he did bugger all over summer

Re: Winter Roses
Lol Zoe, maybe he just likes the cold. I'm amazed by the quality of Abraham's winter blooms as well. Most winter blooms don't last long but his blooms are as good as a summer crop.
It's been such a long dreary winter. Up your way it's been even colder still. Can't wait to see some nice sunny days.

Re: Winter Roses
Have you got any photos of Abraham? The colours of roses seem to be richer in the southern states. The shorter growing time plus sun make some of my lighter coloured roses seem a bit washed out as it gets warmer.
Thanks,
Louise.

Re: Winter Roses
Hi Louise. Yes I think many of our roses down south are more intensely coloured.
Here's Abraham Darby from last autumn.

Re: Winter Roses
I've heard both Lorraine Lee and Winter Sun are winter bloomers - I never knew about Raspberry Tiger though. Is it fragrant?

Re: Winter Roses
Raspberry Tiger doesn't have much fragrance according to my nose.
