Re: Camellia lovers?
Oh bugger, which line of code am I supposed to copy so that the image shows up on the forum? Is it the 'Thumbnail' one? It's not working for me very well on the iPad.
Another try. Unknown camellia flowering in my garden. I think it might be 'Kick Off'.

Re: Camellia lovers?
The site, now cleared of agapanthus. That black line of mulch is the 8m trench that I amended for planting the hedge.

The plants!

Some more mud and agapanthus roots, for Sue:

It's a dirty business.

Re: Camellia lovers?
Thanks David, only took 4 goes a bit bit of help from you, hahahaha. I might be an average gardener, but I'm much better at that than doing techy things!

Re: Camellia lovers?
Great work Zoe. That must have been back breaking, I know agapanthus don't budge easily! That mulch looks fantastic. Is it home made compost? And don't those camellias look cosy in their new homes! Your hedge will look great before you know it.

Re: Camellia lovers?
Zoe, in your first shot with the barrow, is that the "hill" in no man's land which we all had discussed about taking "off" the council and planting with roses.

Re: Camellia lovers?
Thanks Silky, it sure was sweaty and slippery, but I don't mind. The most annoying this was my neighbour really, who kept asking "why isn't your husband doing that?". Urgh.
David, yes! That is 'no mans land', or a small section of it, directly behind where the row of camellias is. You probably can't see it in the pic, but there's a wire fence that delineates my property from 'no mans land' just behind those camellias.

Re: Camellia lovers?
Oh and Silky, no, it's not home made compost. I've been making a heap of new beds for the roses and fruit trees that I ordered (still in progress, photos to come) and I ran out of home made stuff in 2 seconds flat.
In that bed I've used rotted cow manure, some organic top soil, and a mixed grade mulch (which has very fine particles all the way through to some small sticks and large woodchips) dug into the clay, with more mulch on top.
In the rose beds I used rotted horse manure, autumn leaves and mulch dug through the clay, with cardboard and mulch on top.
