Thanks Bruce and welcome to Rosetalk.

Unfortunately we cannot grow roses in Queensland (so we have been told by many a palm tree/budda salesperson) so the whole lot was just photoshopped. I am kidding (about being photoshopped not the palm trees etc).

April - May is the best time in our garden. Normally things are starting to cool down, the rains have come and mostly gone and the plants take off. The flowers last longer, I think their colour is better and most of the bugs have gone.

We actually do more pruning up here in February/March than we do in July/ August. Actually we try not to do any pruning (too lazy and the older rose varieties do not seem to require it as much and some simply do not like it) so it does give the roses a boost.

Hi Rosebud

thanks for the welcome, we lived at Camira west of Brisbane. I did grow rose whilst in Queensland but not to the extent and passion that I do today. In another life I was a marine engineer so spent quite a bit of time away from home, here gardening was spasmodic.

Retiring to the Hunter Valley has changed all that
