Thanks Bruce and welcome to Rosetalk.
Unfortunately we cannot grow roses in Queensland (so we have been told by many a palm tree/budda salesperson) so the whole lot was just photoshopped. I am kidding (about being photoshopped not the palm trees etc).
April - May is the best time in our garden. Normally things are starting to cool down, the rains have come and mostly gone and the plants take off. The flowers last longer, I think their colour is better and most of the bugs have gone.
We actually do more pruning up here in February/March than we do in July/ August. Actually we try not to do any pruning (too lazy and the older rose varieties do not seem to require it as much and some simply do not like it) so it does give the roses a boost.

Thanks for the welcome. we shifted from Queensland to the Hunter Valley NSW 5 years ago left behind a beautiful garden which the new owners do no look after a crying shame.

Welcome, Bruce - Perhaps you can pass on your Qld wisdom .... Did you grow roses in Qld? And if so, where in Qld?

Re: Autumn Garden in Queensland
Hi Rosebud
thanks for the welcome, we lived at Camira west of Brisbane. I did grow rose whilst in Queensland but not to the extent and passion that I do today. In another life I was a marine engineer so spent quite a bit of time away from home, here gardening was spasmodic.
Retiring to the Hunter Valley has changed all that

Adam is surely a decadently sumptuous rose. Divine.

Re: Autumn Garden in Queensland
Thanks Debbie
The garden area (includes house and sheds and driveway etc is about 2 acres. It's hard work but not everyday. I still work 3 days a week and I play golf one or two times a week.

You do have a lovely garden Gary.
It is such a shame that you are so far away from us or David and I would come to visit.

However your warm weather is tempting, it is cold here.
