One of my all time favourite roses as I believe this particular rose sets the benchmark for fragrance in a hybrid tea rose and I would go as far to say its colour for me is best red of the red roses I am familiar with. The only drawback is for a classic hybrid tea the petals are loose and the rose doesn't often develop the necessary needle point centre if at all to be a good exhibition rose.
HT, dr, 1963, Meilland, Alain A.; bud pointed; flowers dark velvety crimson, large, 35 petals, high-centered, borne mostly singly , intense fragrance; recurrent; foliage leathery, glossy, olive-green; vigorous, upright growth
[Chrysler Imperial × Charles Mallerin]
Oklahoma and Mr Lincoln are the same cross as Papa Meilland however they were both bred in the USA whereas Papa Meilland was bred in France.

Thank you Guys. I have to admit, my son - the computer guru, shepherded me through this. (He's very patient!!) He read your instructions and then off we went - me with no idea, he with great calm!! The visuals!! Anyway, I have to thank you all as well, Neptune, you too, gave me more info, Ausrose, thank you for that info re Papa Meilland; isn't rose history interesting?!! Must do some research on this. Anyway, thanks Guys!!
