Novelty roses
Just wondering does anyone have Purple Tiger and how they find it. I know it's not the greatest of roses, but the colours look
intriguing..
Whats your favorite novelty rose?

Re: Novelty roses
Politically, i might be labelled a ratbag Trotskyite revisionist, but when it comes to roses, I am right-wing conservative. So far Tea Party right that I call my Daybreaker a novelty rose ;-)
Still, I have a yen for Henri Matisse. The almost-edible pix I saw here recently just knocked my blue-tie socks off.

Oh Betsy, you make me laugh!
I love my Red Intuition, very elegant and beautiful. Grimaldi is a new one this year and I love its striking flowers (lots of them too). Unfortunately little/no scent which is a bummer.

Re: Novelty roses
Essentially I am an exhibitor and grow very few of what you might call a novelty rose as they aren't generally appreciated on the show bench however this is changing. One rose that more than likely would be classed as a novelty rose I grow is the George Dawson rose Imp. This rose has given my wife and I a number of championship ribbons and a grand champion ribbon at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. I am now growing Grimaldi and have high hopes for it as show rose in the floribundas class.

Re: Novelty roses
I have Red intuition, I quite like the stripes. Another one I've seen that looks similar to Henri Matisse is Rasberry Tiger at a rose show. It won first prize in it's division. Imp is one I haven't tried though looks lovely.

Re: Novelty roses
I can recommend Imp as it grows like a weed, has excellent shiny foliage and the flowers are abundant. With respect to disease it is as good as any other rose in my beds. Thomas for Roses carry it however I believe they are out of stock of it at the moment.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Novelty roses
Just a vase of utter awesomeness.
PS: Ausrose, i really REALLY think you should put up pix of your prizewinning roses, ribbons and all, on HMF. That goes for all you exhibitors. Not immodest at all, but very useful to many of us who grow roses for the vase

Re: Novelty roses
Hi Betsy and Happy
What might be a better idea is I start a new thread headed Show Winners and put up some of the outstanding winning vases of roses from various exhibitors I have in my rose photo archives.

Re: Novelty roses
I have started a new thread named Show Winners and commenced it with two of the grand champions from the 2013 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
