Digger Well I started today, removing poor performing roses and replacing with new roses on the right root stock. The picture below shows what I'm dealing with in my bed. I took the opportunity to put more holes in the plastic corflute. I picked up bags of blue metal for the base of the hole to help with drainage. Also on the weekend I got bags of potting mix, cow manure, soil improver with Bentonite Clay and worm castings.

Definately no compacting will occur with this exercise. lol!

To my surprise this mixture is 2 to 3 times lighter that the soil I removed, interesting.

thanks neptune. I've dug out a trench where the plastic ends. its hard to see on the photo the plastic has a good slope from the wall to the trench. everything has a good covering of bluestone so hopefuly it will drain a lot better
