The Garden at Forest Hall
I'm currently reading Susan Irvine's The Garden at Forest Hall. Has anyone else read this? Her knowledge of plants and her descriptions of how she transformed a derelict house and property in Tasmania makes for wonderful reading. Descriptions of the many roses she planted and her landscaping abilities are enhanced with stories of colonial history of the area. Great photos too.
Highly recommended.

Re: The Garden at Forest Hall
I have a copy of the book here somewhere and have visited Forest hall. Lee got us tickets to an open day there for my birthday a few years back.
The garden and the house were beautiful with a wide range of rose varities.

Just discovered Forest Hall is for sale! I hope new owners keep the Open Day tradition going, I'd love to visit.

Looking for copy of Garden at Forest Hall
I have read all of Susan Irvine's books on establishing rose gardens, including her diary of establishing the Forest Hall Garden. Her descriptions of old roses are wonderful with deep knowledge, especially tracking down many of Alister Clark's previously lost roses. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a copy of her Garden at Forest Hall.
On the topic of Australian rose breeders, I found a copy of Peter Cox's 1999 book, Australian Roses, listing numerous Australian rose breeders and their roses. A great resource to add to my rose library!
If anyone is keen to to part with their copy of The Garden at Forest Hall I'd be happy to consider purchasing it!
Happy reading!
