Looking for Yellows

Hello to all members, I am on a mission pertaining to yellow roses. If it is not to much trouble could you all list the yellows you have or send me an email or PM on this matter.

What ever the last one is I do like it. First thoughts on Dama Del Lago, did not jump out, but after couple of looks it has come around. What is it's stem length like ?.

Dave you don't like the Charles Austin X Smooth buttercup, that is its actual colour egg yolk yellow. big grower over 6ft high.

Again Warren it did not jump out at me. I like the colour. Carole said can it come with more petals. please.

Dave Dave, You have to build up the breeding cell, this is what you start with sometimes, colour then followed by form. Whats the old saying "Build it and they will come" it all takes time.

Well you are right on the money with the colour Warren , lovely.

The only yellows (as opposed to copper, peach, buff, apricot) I have are:
Friesia
Gold Bunny (bush and climbing)
Graham Thomas
Sunshine


I've tended to stay away from yellows as I had been under the impression they were more inclined to BS etc.

Wendy Friesia is one of my favourite yellows, the one I had at the old place never had any problems. Graham Thomas is a beaut and it has given me some interesting roses. Sunshine I don't know this one, HMF didn't have a pic and I am not sure which breeder yours came from, there are a few listed under that name.

Gold Bunny when in full bloom is spectacular, but I have seen a few here in Deni which have been almost defoliated due to BS. I have used it a lot in breeding and the offspring show none or little BS activity. A lot GB offspring have a wavy edge to their leaves which looks quite nice.

Yeah, at the moment most of my roses have BS on the BS. Even the Noisettes and some of the teas have a bit. Gold Bunny and Friesia don't look flash... :/ It was that last inch (or 7) of rain that did it at the start of March.

'Sunshine' [KORhigego] was from Treloars about 2-3 years ago? It's struggled (all the ones in that area of my garden have) partly because of rabbits, caterpillars etc etc. Very nice clear strong yellow with good HT form.

Hi David,
Charlotte has many petals, and the blooms are quite big, too. I wouldn’t call it egg yolk, but clear and strong and the contrast between the center and outer white/lighter petals is very beautiful … extremely beautiful. It took a couple of years to look like in the catalogues though, and was mainly yellow earlier on (funny that). The stems are curved rather than long and straight, but the blooms don’t droop, and cover the bush from top to toe, rather than just the higher branches. It has a very light fresh crisp fragrance, and will climb if you let it.

David I bought a Buccaneer rose hybird tea this year bare rooted in a bag from Big W.I havent seen it much around to be honest at all.Do you know much about it.Cheers

Daniel, I had this rose many many years ago, it is a big rose/plant. They class it as a HT and/or a gradiflora. Do you have 'Queen Elizabeth', it will not get quite as big. Clean rose desease wise, but not totally. I am getting it as I have been loking for a good while and I actually want to breed with it.

Thanks for that David as there is limited information about it on the internet to and not many breeders sell it either.The rose looks like it has tall pointy stems and pointy flowers to.I dont have Queen Elizabeth.

David have you got your 2 Buccaneer yet ?

Daniel, how long has it been in the ground/pot. If it is new it will take some time to estabelish. The soils are cool/cold and this will also effect it's growth. Tell me/us more about it. How long in ground/pot, plant size, soil, anything else, sun/shade, temps.
Don't gorget it is going to get quite big when it get going, hope you have room for it.

Hi David it's been in the ground in good soil for about 3 months.I bought it barerooted and it is a very healthy and sturdy plant and size.Temperature is very cold here now in Melbourne.Compared to the other barerooted roses I bought it has grown alot slower.It gets most of its sun in the morning I would say.I have got Candy Stripe and Gold Medal next to it to.
