Well this is some thing new for me R. Laevigata with powdery mildew, we have had very high humidity levels over the last couple of weeks , just wondering if this had some thing to do with it.

Laevigata use to always get mildew for me when we lived up near near Newcastle. It hasn't got it so far down here. Mildew HATES moisture. It loves warm dry days and cool dry nights. You can actually kill mildew off by wetting your roses down thoroghly of a morning. If you are getting very high humidity I would be checking it carefully to ensure it actually is powdery mildew and not something else.

Not saying I am right, Warren if you have high humidity that would equal downy mildew, the past season for grapes across the country will testify to that. Any chance of apicture of the leaf, more important I think would be the canes and the younger the better as it is there it effected the grapes.

My Laviegata very, very rarely gets mildew or anything other disease. It is planted against a 6 metre high eucalypt stump with a ship's rope wound around the stump. The rose has reached the top in about 5 years. Toowoomba region has been in terrible drought until this year and now things are growing so much I am sure they are going to come into the house to get us.
