Howdy Simon
This rose was named after my german grandma,
It is Charles Austin X Mme Caroline Testou, I use these two roses a lot , crossed with various types to achieve some interesting structures. I was in contact with Robert Rippentoe the other day , I mentioned to him about using Mme Caroline Testou , it has Tea and a pre 1900 HT only one generation back, and its possibilities of throwbacks being quite good.

Ithaca is the same cross but different colour and totally different structure with a perfume like violets

Both I like very much and are fertile, Ithaca has given me some very good offspring , with well structured and heavily perfumed flowers.

Very nice Warren, can see the reason you mentioned Mme Caroline Testout a few times as a very good breeder.

It is a rose you cant go wrong with, the thing about it also is the offspring's foliage, I dont have to look at the tags because it so unique, looks very Tea like , there is a huge gap in between each pair of leaves, the leaves are very lanced shaped , leaf stalk is red as with the vein running down the middle of each leaf. No matter what you cross it with you get this characteristic little trait.
