roses in pots
Hi, I am getting 12 roses and I do not have the ground ready. I was thinking of putting them in pots until next winter. Would 34cm pots be ok? I also brought Scots compost and potting mix and also black marvel rose compost. Is that alright for the soil preparation?
Thank you. I am so exited to get these roses.

Re: roses in pots
Carmel, I assume this is the same as the other post about pots ?. It sounds like the right /ideal start to life for a rose. Black plastic pots can get hot in Summer and dry out relatively quickly, also depending on our Summer and the position of the pots the roots "could" burn once the rose establishs it;s self in the pot. A little trick to help this is to line the pot with some sheets of news paper, it tends to keep the pot/ soil a bit cooler, hope this helps.

Re: roses in pots
thank you, I was on the welcome thread and thought I would ask here. I received one plant already (Summer romance) If I prepare the soil now, would it be ok by the end of August? Sorry for all the questions. I might put the one I have in a pot for now.

Re: roses in pots
I just mixed up the soil. I put chicken manure, blood and bone, marvel black compost, and potting mix.
