Rose Cuttings.
I have recently come across a U tube clip on growing rose cuttings in perelite. Has anyone tried this and if so, was it effective?

I have used it perlite for cuttings and found it to be a success however I prefer coarse river sand.

Hmmm ... wonder if using perlite or pure course sand will help fight against the effects of humidity. Am waiting until the rain peters out up here before I attempt some late autmumn ... oops, winter!, cuttings.

Re: Rose Cuttings.
Sand failed for me this year but it has been a bad year for cuttings. I was talking to Margaret Furness the other day and she said she did not have a lot of success at Renmark this year either.
I've tried some more from a couple of roses that I am shifting going back to potting mix with a bit of sand added. This seems to have been the best in the past but have to be careful to over water them. I also stuck some bits into the ground to give a bit of a comparison.

Re: Rose Cuttings.
This year I tried to strike about 70 cuttings, I experimented with numerous ways eg: river sand, coir, seed raising mix, Perlite on their own and different combinations of the three, I even tried Aquaponics, whilst all methods at different stages looked promising, in the end all 70 cuttings failed.
