Autumn State Championship WA 2014
Another hectic weekend over from the State Autumn Championships and from our bad start when we couldn't do a summer prune when I wanted to because we were overseas, we did alright........
Well done to Stewart Coles who took out the Major Championship and sent us to second place. We did a comeback and took out the Minor Championship, the Cyril & Daisy Hillary Memorial Perpetual Trophy and second in the Josephine Castledine Memorial Trophy.
This will make you happy ,Doug...Two first and a second in an Australian Bred rose.......
In the Floral Art Section we received three first, one second and one third......
So a quick summary......we enter 15 categories
8 = first
4 = seconds
3 = thirds
One lesson learn't.....be careful when you choose to go on holidays...it could upset your preparations...

John for the number of roses you and Anna grow your results are outstanding. I am particularly impressed with your result in the Australian bred class.
As I indicated in another thread the Australian bred class has gone from relative obscurity to one of the most prestigious classes in the NSW State Championships and I am hoping this improved status of Australian bred roses continues right across Australia.
Progressive rose societies such as a number of NSW Regional Rose Societies are now giving a champion ribbon for the best Australian bred unit in the show.
