Little White Flying Bugs
Little white flying bugs that seem to like it under some of my bigger roses where the mulch is more wet. They are laying eggs on the stems closest to the ground but they fly EVERYWHERE. Are they a bad pest? I used to have a poinsettia near this spot and it was covered in these bugs so we had to rip it out. Are they poinsettia white fly? They are so tiny I can barely see what they are. I hope they are not breeding in the wet mulch. Please help!

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
good choice maree....neem oil.......also soapy water will help to get rid of them, the downside is that it doesn't kill all stages of the whitefly cycle

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
They are such a pest!!!!! I had to cut back some
of my most well growing roses to cut off their eggs. Disgusting things! Will soapy water kill the eggs?

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
I'm guessing nothing will? I have just been cutting back what I can where I can see the eggs. I can't see too many more so hoping most of them will bugger off lol

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
rosy , you may destroy a 1000 of them but you will get more , at work we sell netting traps , they can catch millions of them , but they are pests so there isnt much more you can do .

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
Look like White fly to me, we get them in the vegitable garden nearly every year. Also difficult to control so visit your hortocultural ssupply and ask for the top guy.

Re: Little White Flying Bugs
from yates.....
The best product to use to control white fly is called Nature’s Way Insect & Mite Killer, Natasoap. This product will suffocate and dry out this pest on contact. Because white fly build up in such large numbers over a period of time, it is important to spray every 7 days to get the pest population under control. Spray on top and underneath the leaf. There is no withholding period with this product.
