APHIDS HELP !!!!!
I have tried quite a few things to get rid of aphids with no luck. I have used white oil, eco oil, aphid spray, cayenne pepper, many rose sprays (organic and poison). The hose & even yates rose spray has done nothing. Stops them for a few days then they're back.
Currently some of my roses are really getting a battering with these nasty creatures. I am assuming that when I spray them that the sprays don't affect the eggs?
I have so many roses and it became such a problem with 'Hot Chocolate' that I had to cut half of it off. It was just that bad. They must really love the heat here.
I have sprayed them now with eco oil and cayenne pepper and discovered caterpillars !!!!! Eating whole buds !!!!! And then some mildew. Which I have never had before. I have organic product for the mildew. And I am confident that I have caught and cut in half the caterpillars that I could see just on one plant.
I am going mad. Please help before I rip them all out.
PS. In previous posts I see Neptune has mentioned lime sulfur in water? Has this worked for anyone else?

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
Oh dear Rosy , you poor thing , i think roses are like strawberries , every goddam bug loves em , have you tried pyrithrone sprays , check out all the growers sites and see what they recommend , they are bad this year , i've got em , i've been squashing them on a daily basis , last year the ladybird bugs came along and ate them all , but too cold for them at the moment ....

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
Hi Jordan, yes I have tried that. It was a little expensive to buy in cans for the amount of roses I have, so I tried 2 cans and it didn't work

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
It seems that even if I spray them weekly they keep coming back after a few days. In full force. I have tried everything but those little pills from Bunnings. If we didn't have so many roses I would have bought them already.

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
Have you ever rid them completely? I have resorted to cutting some branches off. Which is not ideal in summer.

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
Some roses don't get them at all. About half of my older roses are affected and the other half are ok. I just feel like I'm constantly spraying them. And I like to use organic rose oil mostly but it's not keeping them at bay.

Yes I know. And I haven't. I had no other choice with one of them there was just no way I could have controlled it. Should have taken photos!

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
okay no probs , reason why i asked .. the people next door to me have about 6 bushes . and they are not looked after .. so many aphids on there and black spot and mildew .. they only thing i think they do is prune and water .. sometimes aphids can be carried by the wind from a close by place where plants and roses carry disease

Re: APHIDS HELP !!!!!
The fences are double palings and 2 metres high, so I can only think that I bought in an infected bush and that infected the rest of them. I never had this problem last year. I think I know where I got it from too, will never buy there again!
