Different Rose Foliage
You don't have to have just a pretty rose flower, you can nice foliage as well. Here are a couple of seedlings which sort of have different than normal foliage and when the sunlight hits it, almost looks metallic. These are still babies but can you imagine a large rose bush covered in these leaves .See what you think.

Re: Different Rose Foliage
Were you aiming for glossy or did they come out randomly glossy, Ozroz?
It’s interesting that the two seedlings of Baronne ER are the glossier ones, yet my BER’s leaves are not glossy at all; they’re matt, dark olive green. Where did that glossiness come from?
I must say, I was very excited when first seeing super glossy leaves like that in my garden, but after that rose turned out far brighter and much more intense in colour than I like, I would now be inclined to take three steps back when seeing leaves like that (just a personal preference).
I wonder if the glossiness of the leaves would generally indicate intense pigment in flowers; would you say that it does?

Re: Different Rose Foliage
Gary I have gone the pedigrees to see where it came from , but came up nothing, maybe its some thing new?
Jac sometimes I will breed for foliage, but my breeding is 1. health 2. Vigour and 3. flower structure and repeat (which is tied into vigour).
I like super glossy leaves, it sort of gives you the impression of wet foliage. Glossy foliage doesn't really indicate brighter colours. The Baronne Ed Rothschild X China Sunrise, China Sunrise has quite glossy foliage.

Re: Different Rose Foliage
I agree, super glossy leaves are very nice among other different types of leaves, and if they don’t necessarily indicate bright intense colours, it’s save for me to keep them on my list. That’s pretty much the glossiness level of my IA, except they were more copper bronzy. Let’s see what the flowers bring.
