Rose ID Time
This rose is in our garden. I have my thoughts on it's name. I have changed my mind on it's name over the years. I would like it IDed. The reason is I would like to breed with it. Some might not agree, but I would like to,

There are more in the garden to come for ID. Regards David.

Re: Rose ID Time
Is it a climber, David? Damo looked at it and suggests 'Belle Story' or 'Meg'... I was thinking 'Lavender Pinocchio' but it looks climberish from your photo.
Re: Rose ID Time
Yes, it 'would' like to climb. 'Belle Story' is incorrect. Damo your second choice is correct. Now what would the people of this forum place over 'her'

Lets try this one for size,[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
We have name for it, but, we think it is wrong. In this next shot you might get the name we call it. Behind it is a structure and it has always been known as this rose.

Re: Rose ID Time
I only have a limited number of roses but I saw the stamens and thought 'Belle Story' but 'Belle Story' has way more petals than Dave's.Simon wrote:Is it a climber, David? The only 'Meg' I've seen had stems and canes that make me think "Brick Out House". LOL

Re: Rose ID Time
Wendy, you are so close to the name we use, "Brick Out House" = "Toilet Rose"
The top one is "Meg".

Re: Rose ID Time
No, it's definately not ' Belle Story '. Suppose you have established it makes hips so what about trialing it with 'Playboy', ' Altissimo' or if you want to intensify the mauve try 'Old Port'. Warren suggested to me 'Old Port' for mauve breeding. I did find OP and have used it this year myself.
I just find there are a lot of pink roses here and want to breed some stronger colours.

Bruce, 'Playboy' looks good. 'Old Port' maybe. 'Altissimo' I think is a little bit over used IMO, Regards David.

Re: Rose ID Time
That' what I like about breeding roses, you don't have to be a follower but do it your way. We might get into more trouble but have more fun along the way.
