New rose arbour seat :)

Well... pretty much finished... just have to paint it, level it, and plant a climbing rose or two against it. Leaning towards 'New Dawn' at the moment. Alicia, my partner for whom the seat was built as a Christmas gift this year, wants a repeat flowering large flowered light pink rose and 'New Dawn' seems to fit the bill nicely and it is almost thornless making it even more 'sensible' for a rose seat I think. Either that or I will get another two 'Nahema' which is doing well here already. Also thinking of planting a white climber to grow up through the pink one... not settled on which one yet...

I have a climbing Cecile Brunner in a pot here so I think I'll liberate this instead. Will be a perfect veil for the arbour

New Dawn is VERY thorny - would not be my choice at all. This has to be a thornless rose if you want to enjoy sitting. I have NEW DAWN on the wall of my veggie garden next to my ducks' bath and leaning down to pull out the plug is not pleasant as I always get attacked.

The one that I would adore on that frame is PINKIE and maybe also AIMEE VIBERT (white) - both thornless. Pinkie is much more "upward moving" than RENAE which can be very slow. But RENAE would love lovely also.

I like 'Climbing Pinkie' but I have a pot of 'Climbing Cecile Brunner' here that I need to plant... I'm just concerned it will get too big for it and require constant cutting back... will look good though...

I think the Cecil has thorns also. This is significant for a seat.

Yes, she has a few... not many though and they are quite small. It's her final size that has me concerned. She will consume a house if given a chance.

Fixed... going well... Cecile Brunner is making its way up and over in just one season... was a nice sight when in flower... will update with a new pic when she flowers again next season

Simon, Pinkie came into my mind. I have seen pictures and have read about. But haven't had one yet.

Will try Pinkie one day... for now though, Climbing Cecile Brunner is well over 4m tall and has spread over the whol back of the seat so it's well on its way to being a proper rose seat

I saw Cecile Brunner covering a Bower years ago on the interenet that looked very beautiful and plan to copy that when I buy two grafted Ceciles this winter. My own root one I grew from cuttings died eventually after having looked so promising.
One day I would like to make a Arbour sear. I look forward to your future photo of your established looking Arbour seat and Cecile Brunner, Simon.
