Re: WA Rose Society Spring Rose Show
We are cutting as the roses come up and at the moment there are too many buds that aren't developed enough to my liking. :/ Hopefully we will be able to get what we want and enter the categories we would like

Re: WA Rose Society Spring Rose Show
Ok, the show went better than expected. A lot of our roses never bloomed and the weather has been cold and rainy... but we still pulled home a second place in the State Championship, a third in the Spring Decorative Championship, a third in the Spring Minor Championship, First prize in all of the Floral art sections entered and the Champion Floral Art. A few others as well but those were the big ones :)I'm really happy about the State Championship and the Floral Art as it takes both planning and creativity.

Thank you so much Anna for the photo's. I can see the effort you(and John) have put into the roses. It looks like it was well attended by the photo of the hall.

What an impressive show you put on, Anna. Despite all the adversity, you still turned out prizewinners galore. And lack of sunlight sure didn't affect your creativity - such imaginative arrangements. That mirrored glass box was a triumph! It shone like a beacon on the show table.

Congratulations Anna on your well deserved wins! Fantastic arrangements and that reflective mirror arrangement is creative genius. Where do you get your ideas? Even the touches of brown dried grass at the opening of a vase, suggesting a nest, is wonderful. Such a lot of work has gone into your exhibits. Well done!

Re: WA Rose Society Spring Rose Show
Thank you all for your lovely comments.
The idea for the mirror box came to us as we were looking around for something suitable for that class (reflections) and then my fab husband did the work and built it
I don't really know where I get ideas from. I usually look at the class, choose a container and something that makes that class (as in reflections it was the mirror box and a crystal bowl) and in unusual container I chose a seed pod. Then I just work with the roses, greens and accessories that I have. Sometimes things just don't work out as planned and you have to change it on the day. It can be hard to plan further than the container and accessories as it might just not work for you when you start putting the roses in the floral foam.
I think Floral Art is my favourite class as it challenges my creative side... but I think it might be hard to top this one off next show *lol*

Unfortunately no, we had to go to Cannington first, then we went up to Kalamunda, where we actually got very delayed, spewing all the way home in having missed out going.neptune wrote:thank you , Paul...did you end up going?
