Rose Society of WA Championship and Show 2013
The RSWA's Autumn show opened today. Our roses left a lot to wish for, especially after our run in with the Parrots (see Neptunes thread: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) and then to top it off with howling winds and non-stop heavy rain showers.
But all and all, we did ok. I'm quite pleased with the result considering what we had. We got second in the Autumn Championship, second in the Maurice Daw Memorial Trophy and a few other of the major classes and we also took out the first in most categories of the Floral Art and I am pleased to say that we got the June Taylor Memorial Trophy with the Champion Floral art
Some pics from the show:

Re: Rose Society of WA Championship and Show 2013
Well we are back home again , after packing up our roses from the State Champs. In previous years we always go to these shows with over 120 roses....this year we went with 26 individual roses , which don't include a vase and bowl of roses.
We enter 18 separate Classes and this is the break down.....
Floral Art - 6 Separate Classes
5 x First
1 x Second
1 x Third
This includes Champion Floral Art...(photo above)
2nd - State Autumn Championship - 15 different roses
2nd - Maurice Dan Memorial Trophy - bowl
2nd - Cyril & Daisy Hillary Memorial Perpetual Trophy - vase
Other Divisions - 11 Roses
6 x First
3 x Second
@ Doug.....this should make you happy - 2 x first and 1 x second for Australian bred rose......

I particularly love your flower arrangement of roses within a glass cylinder. Very creative and effective.

Rose-Anna, as I posted before great result. The vases allowed here in NSW are made from a terrible coloured drab green plastic. They are no where as attractive as yours. I did enquire about them being all plastic and was told it is an insurance thing, no glass allowed. I do have some of the old clear glass vases but they remain a household item.

Huh. We just use old green stubby bottles.... But then again we are an Ag Show not a "proper" rose show!

No doubt about it, those Kardinals have great form, either red or pink.
Looks like you and your wife spent a lot of time preparing them.

Re: Rose Society of WA Championship and Show 2013
we were lucky , Bruce.......pruning, force feeding, gas heaters, lights all helped to get what we had. If I hadn't done that, we wouldn't have any for the show. It also helped that I had worked the soil right up at the time. Probably would have flown to Bali to drown our sorrows ....

Well done John and Anna. The flowers were so fresh and clean and the foliage is excellent. You have already anticipated my first question my first question about your results in the Australian bred my second one being:- "What were the cultivars?"
