David Austin type rose?

I was thinking of getting a DA or english rose floribunda type that I would like to put in a pot. (Hope that makes sense). I would like something in a apricot and/or soft pink that wouldn't get very big, and flowers continually Is Afternoon Delight any good? Promise I won't get fussy Ambridge looks nice too.

I've grown Anne Boleyn (warm pink), Mary Magdalene (soft pink fades to lighter pink), Redoutè (again soft pink) and Emanuel (apricot blend). All these survived for a few years but then I put them in the ground (Redoutè being the exception).

I'm sure that many more roses will do well in pots. I have recently potted up some rugosa roses in huge silver coloured plastic tubs for my elderly mother they are still thriving (I am not there to look after them daily, but once a week). So as long as you plant them in big tubs - wooden or light shaded plastics are best. Give them heaps of water, feed monthly, mulch well - oh and put a few drops of fish emulsion in their water. This is a hard way of growing roses, but with lots of TLC you should have success.

As Rita is our DA specialist, how would "Pat Austin" go in a tub, right colour, could reduce growth, only a thought.

Have to admit that I am not too fond of 'orange' in my garden and I have not grown Pat Austin. Pat, unlike Lilian Austin & Christopher Marlowe has way too much orange for me.

Now there are a couple of other roses that could be ideal in tubs ... Lilian & Christopher.

Thanks Rita, I have checked them out on HMF and they are lovely I especially like Emanuel, I'm not for orange much either but I do like the apricots. As much as I like dark red in roses, when it comes to the other colours I'm a sucker for pastels

We also had a very bad storm this afternoon and I didn't get home until after dark, I'm afraid to go out and look at the roses, not that I would see much anyway, have too wait until morning..

Happy Roses, I was attracted to Emanuel also but unfortunatly it couldn't survive my harsh treatment and humid weather. They have to be tough to live here.

Roses are all good, the photos make it look very tempting but yes it will need to handle the weather also, it's been so hot one day and pouring rain the next, It's been a weird summer.

That's the idea of photos - to tempt one beyond reason. Hope you find just the rose for your conditions. Have to admit, when I was up in Brissy in 2001, the roses at the Botanical Gardens where looking a bit sad from the humidity.

Agree its been a weird summer all round. 4th day into Autumn and its still like summer down here
