'Man of Roses' says that 'Baxter Beauty' was a sport of 'Lorraine Lee' and lists it as one of Alister Clark's roses. HMF lists it as being discovered by Russell Grimwade. Numerous references on HMF say both of these things... just wondering which is right???

And...

Why is 'Agnes Barclay' listed as a HT when it doesn't have any HT in it??????

The Agnes Barclay in circulation is a found rose, which is why I've labelled it "Upper Beaconsfield' at Renmark. It was also collected at Alexandra opposite the post office. I think Alister Clark wasn't sure of the parentage. If it's as stated (Comtesse Dusy, Tea, x Crepuscule, Tea-Noisette) it should be Tea. The one in commerce (and I'm not saying it's incorrect, it might be what Clark bred) grows & looks more like a polyantha, with colouring that would fit with Crepuscule in the ancestry.
Someone did some research that suggested about 15% of roses don't have the parentage stated (like humans in San Francisco). Errant bees etc.

I guess... it's just funny though that he would call it something that it isn't.. I guess if I was unsure of the parentage I'd say x unknown to avoid speculation Dunno

I am chasing a Baxter Beauty. We had one a few years ago but we shifted it just before it rained (a lot) and it did not survive.

Does anyone know if anyone sells it.

The one at Renmark is big enough for budwood if you can't find a seller - but we'd have to tag the branch that's reverting to Lorraine Lee! My plant is small yet.
