Registering New Rose Varieties in Australia
Rose registration is a bit different here in Australia to how it is in the rest of the world. Initially national rose societies were meant to manage the registration of their own country's new rose varieties. These records would then be forwarded to ICRA to be added to a central registry. As it turns out, Australia is the only country left who is still doing this. Laurie Newman is the Australian new rose variety registrar to whom registration documents should be forwarded . These documents can be found here:
These forms are identical to the ones found on the ICRA website. By having an Australian registrar what we will hopefully be able to achieve is more accurate records of Australian bred roses to help document the heritage roses of the future.
