Gold Bunny supercede?
Hi everyone, I am wanting to buy three climbers this winter to put in a row against a new deck. I am wondering if there is a better rose than Gold Bunny.
What I like about GB is that it is the first to flower in the spring, then it goes on and on flowering in bursts throughout the summer. Also it is fairly healthy re black spot and mlidew. And it is yellow.
I am looking at my new Treloar's catalogue and I see one called Golden Showers. Does anyone know if this is a better performer than GB?
There is another one called Golden Gate. Released last year. has anyone got this one?

Dee, if you go back to the photo gallery and find the shots of Cheryl's "Golden Showers" I think you will like it. We have a young one that has only been in for a year, has flowered it's head off, no training as yet. Frame for the climbers has not ben built yet. It is in amongst weeds and even some paspalum, no signs off black spot that I can see.

Re: Gold Bunny supercede?
Golden Showers flowers fade quickly and don't last long ,however they are produced in such profusion it doesn't matter. It is a fairly stiff and upright plant and mine have nil disease.
Golden celebration is prolific and easily trained, pretty resistant and fragrant,we have trained it upwards and horizontally, and is lax enough to weep.
i am however biased towards noisettes so love Celine Forestier, fairly pale, and Duchesse d'auerstadt.
I have read thet climbing Sunblest,or Landora is an excellent rose, but not sure if is available.

wphvet, any chance of a photo of "Golden Celebration" as sounds wonderful. I would be interested to see how you have it growing. I am in the process of working on an arbour in front of our house to take about 15 climbers.

Re: Gold Bunny supercede?
Roseman I will try and work the photo for you but no promises.Golden celebration has been trained alsong the top of a low picket fence which surrounds a vege patch. She has spread approx 3 metres both ways and also is allowed to throw canes laterally as she does weep.Always seems in flower, sets hips if not dead headed and was best after the first year, starts as a deep gold and fades to pale yellow, the flowers last a week or so.Its fairly flexible so would grow any which way I suspect.cheers
Love reve d'or as well, poles apart but both classics
