How long have you had this one Rip.? I'm interested to hear how well it is growing down your way. It's a really beautiful rose? Does anyone grow the bush form?

Only got it this year from Misty Downs. They are in pots atm. Ive been not as nice to my roses as I should, no spraying and even done a fair bit of over head watering (sprinkler) when I havent got time to stand there with a hose. Devoniensis has handled it all with class. No aphids, very very little black spot, no balled buds in the rain and handles dryness really well if I dont get to water them til the afternoon. Ill try to get time to take a pic of the whole plant.

Hi,
I have two of the bush form but they don't seem to be thriving here. They're a smallish plant and last year's summer hit them hard. Then we had a feral rabbit take to them, but they're coming on again now.

I have one 3 years old, great fragrance. Small and compact, growth is slow but it is doing very well in our climate, (Heat and Humidity).
No Blackspot or fungus canes to prune so far. I am going to bud it again this season.

Ideal for a small formal garden, needs a lot of feeding and water to get it started. First year slow, Second year Feed and water well from then on and third year plenty of white Tea blooms.

Nice blooms, Ripley !
Good advice, Bruce.
Mine hasn't grown that big eigther as I had it with the climbers and it stayed small, then I realised it must be the bush form. So I moved it into my new Tea rose ( bushes ) area and have been keeping the water up to it the best I can. I have the climbing form too now. Just new this Winter gone. I hope it gets as pretty as your Devoniesis Climber, Ripley. Thanks for showing your photos of it.

Ha! After extolling its virtues, I went out yesterday morning to mildew on some of the new growth, but really to be expected with the kind of weather we've been having and its not too bad a case.

Ripley, does it really matter if it gets it scratch , in my opinion, yes it looks bad, unless it is totally covered, it will survive, it does not look good, as it belongs to the older rose group it will be here for the long term, you could try a home recipe to help it along, one I have heard of has milk in it and another bi-carb soda Regards David.

No I dont think it really matters roseman, it was just funny after I was saying how clean it was hehe, but we have had rain then hot dry days then rain again so perfect mildew weather. Its not really affecting it much yet, have to keep an eye on it and maybe try your suggestions, thanks Smile
