Lady Hillingdon

Another rose I photoghraped in Gulgong. Previous owners of this house told me they new the rose to be at least 100 years old.

Last year Meryl sent me cuttings of 'Sweet Chariot' and 'Lady Hillingdon'. I've just planted out a small plant of it that took a week ago and hope it will look this good one day within my lifetime. It's a triploid too (most teas are diploids) and it fertile (a lot of triploids show limited fertility) and worthwhile using as a parent. This is why I acquired it too.

What is a 'triploid" ? Good luck with your little rose plants.

I really like that phot of Lady Hillingdon Rosemeadow. It is the best specimen I have seen and it is nice to know that it can grow that large.
So often successive house owners rip out the old garden so I am surprised this rose has been kept for so long.
I moved my LH this winter to a sunnier spot because she is very slow growing. I hope she does better in her new spot.
