Deb, as Simon has asked that this topic be moved to hybridizing, I thought I would answer here. Yes I did recommend it to you, and if you remember I said I was joking. And yes it is a favorite along with lots more roses. It is a favorite for a couple of reasons, hardiness, the recurved thorns, flower size and shape, looks after it's self. Would make a fantastic hedge or barrier to keep unwanted things out and does make a wonderful climber. hope this answers it for you. Regards David.
