Our divine Carole has 35 on her list. I'm so curious. What are they?

Anyone else willing to share their selections from Treloars?

What a charming, charming list! Makes me want to call Treloars and say "Barkeep, I'll have what she's having". Except maybe Vol de Nuit, which didn't work out for me years ago.

Sweet Parole: So curious about this one.

David, I tried to fix the typo in the topic heading, but the board set-up won't let me. Can you repair the Treloars spelling?

Hmm, I'm interested in Sweet Parole too. And Red Riding Hood jumped out at me, looks divine. Some superb roses on that list. Wish I had more room...sigh...but with 2 more beds this year (waiting for the rains before I start digging) it's as much as I can manage. Then it will be no more roses for me, unless something carks it.

Just accidentally oopps , wasn't looking ,give a couple of  old roses some roundup ( hate the stuff) or fall on them and squash em ( like my husband did ) and then you'll have room again lol ...

Red Riding Hood does look intriguing- they had a big bunch at the Melbourne Garden show- very nice and its got pretty gold stamens too.
Would love to see Splice, The Endeavour and Abraham Darby in my garden...not to mention Gruss an Aachen..just not enough room:(

Post by LouiseJB 9th April 2014, 13:00

Hi All,
I'm giving Garden Delight a go after seeing it a couple of weeks ago on Better Homes and Gardens. Others from Treloars include SAS Golden Jubilee, Mothers Love, Pope John Paul II, RSL Rose,   Summer of Love and The Lions Rose.
It's a fun time of year but there are definitely too many roses to choose from.
Happy selecting!

Well, you are, Carole.

Now, what do we think about the sport Sweet Parole? I worry about two things:

First, that she will turn out to be a weak sport like, say, Full Sail, who although lovely is a lesser creature than her mother Aotearoa
Second, that her pale colouring will make her a thrip magnet, unlike the richly hued Parole.

I can'tseem to find anything in the way of opinions about this one on gardenweb or elsewhere.

I think asking Kordes about Sweet Parole would be like asking Richard Nixon if he was innocent.

I just (accidentally) ordered Munstead Wood, Abraham Darby, Cl. Lorainne Lee, Lamarque, Mme. Alfred Carriere, Zephirine Drouhin, Felicia and Buff Beauty. I asked for late August delivery so I have time to prepare some beds for them!

I still need to get Anna Olivier, Marie van Houtte, Aimee Vibert, Mons. Tillier/Archduc Joseph (urgh, what is the difference between these two!), Felicite Parmentier, Alba Semi Plena, and perhaps Souv. De la Malmaison and/or Mme. Isaac Pereire or some other smelly bourbon Very Happy

Well. I got the catalogue. Then I realised you can add to your order after you have placed it. So then I bought some more.

Now I have 30 roses coming in the post. Whoops.
