Re: Memoire Rose
Maree I have six of them and I rate the rose every bit as good as Tineke and Pope John Paul 11 as an exhibition rose.

Re: Memoire Rose
John I don't think so the more you have the less time you have to spend per bush and this can lead to a general neglect. You achieve excellent results with what you have so you don't change a winning formula. These days we have about 300 roses and about 100 roses in varying sizes pots that have come from cuttings. This far too many for me to do justice so we are going to rationalize in the next twelve months.

Re: Memoire Rose
Ausrose , how does it perform perfume wise , faint , medium or strong , thanks and you are so right unfortunately i get bitten by rose fever all the time but you have to be realistic about how much time you have to spend not only on roses but on the rest of the garden too , good thing about autumn /winter in Victoria , theres not as much gardening so its off to the footy yay !

Re: Memoire Rose
Maree Memoire is a healthy bush that is an average grower with little fragrance.
When referring to the footy I hope you mean the Storm v Panthers.

Re: Memoire Rose
Although as you may have guessed I am a ruby league man by my tongue in cheek comment however I do keep up to date with the AFL. Being parocial I have followed the fortunes of the Swans since South Melbourne relocated to Sydney. Now we have a team in Western Sydney where I live I will probably start following their fortunes. An interesting point about Western Sydney is Kevin Sheedy the club President is a keen rosarian.

Re: Memoire Rose
I read the last post and read "swans" as "swanes" and I started wondering who Buddy Franklin was (I still have no idea). thinking he must be an American rose breeder (I figured anyone with the name Buddy must be a yank) but then looking back I see you were not talking about swanes at all.
I don't come onto Rosetalk for a couple of days and it's become a AFL forum!

Re: Memoire Rose
No problem. I was just having a bit of a joke and am fine with people having other interests that they may want to discuss.
I still do not know who Buddy Franklin is though.

Lance Franklin, also commonly known as Buddy Franklin (born 30 January 1987), is a professional Australian rules footballer. His ancestry includes Indigenous Australian.[1][2] A centre half-forward, Franklin plays for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played for the Hawthorn Football Club for 9 seasons between 2005 and 2013.

This sort of thing should live on the "social pages" and by all means lets decide which is the better code.

Having been a sports administrator, commentator and journalist for over fifty years old habits die hard. I'll have to make sure I don't get carried away in the future and stick to the topic.

Re: Memoire Rose
Recently I picked a number of Memoire roses and as a result I would like to revise my information on fragrance I gave in a previous thread from little to abundant. I would go as far as to say based on the blooms of Memoire I picked every bit as good as Pope John Paul II.
